yaboot-1.3.17 still has some opened issues:
a) it doesn't build against new e2fsprogs-1.42.x ;
b) it seems to fail on POWER4 based machines .
Waiting for a fix as temporary workaround to successfully build it you could downgrade to e2fsprogs-1.41.x instead if you already installed it on a POWER4 machine you can reinstall the old release booting from CRUX PPC 2.7a 64bit install iso.

build against new e2fsprogs is now fixed.
At least against e2fsprogs-1.42.2 ...
