I downloaded the crux-ppc-2.6.iso and burned it to a CD-RW. On a 7043-150 system with a graphics card, I get:
Unexpected Firmware Error:
DEFAULT CATCH!, code=ff00700 at %SRR0: 00000014 %SRR1: 00083000
ok

System firmware for both systems is up to date.
Burning a different CD made no difference.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your report. Do you have tested your machines with different linux distributions?

These old 604e based machines, as you can read in Release Notes 2.6, are now untested i.e. there is a binary compatibility but no one tested it. We don't have anymore rs6k 32bit machines, and our testers are disappeared. The latest positive feedback was about CRUX PPC release 2.4.

We received a couple of donation proposals... sad to say but only proposals.
I'm sorry but, from the next CRUX PPC release, we'll be obliged to definitely remove official support altough these still are nice machines.

I have 3 7043-150 systems at the office, one with a graphics card. The two non-graphic systems are running Fedora 11 PPC, while the third one has AIX installed at the moment. I can't upgrade them to Fedora 12, apparently due to bugs in the bootstrap code... I have tried Debian and Ubuntu, but they don't seem to handle non-graphic installs, either. I can install Open SuSE, but would prefer to run Debian/Ubuntu or Fedora (more out of familiarity than any other consideration).
Unfortunately, I only have until the end of the month, when my current employment ceases, to work with these systems...
I also own an Apple iBook (G3), currently running Xubuntu 6.10 (newer versions of Debian/Ubuntu/Fedora have a bug that doesn't work properly with the display...). I finally had a chance to try booting CRUXPPC 2.6 on it, but it complained about a corrupted filesystem (on the CD?), so I'll burn the image to a CD-R and try again.
If there is any way I can produce some additional debug output for you, please let me know very soon.
