I hope CRUX PPC can support PS3 and other CellBE computers as well because of lots of cheap and powerful PS3 we can get.In this field,Yellow Dog Linux has been doing well, but with no replace of CRUX PPC,I think CRUX PPC can learn something from that(get some open source code from there).

we can't work on Cell architecture, because, first of all, we haven't Cell based hardware to work on. We would support Cell, of course, and we were searching for donors that could permit us developing on Cell but we couldn't find any. About the PlayStation3, we don't like very much the idea to build a distro for a console game not a real computer, but because it's the only cheap platform based on Cell if we'll have some ps3 we probably support that platform.

Are you sure to be a CRUX PPC user? CRUX PPC and YDL are totally different and not only 'cause CRUX is a source based distro.

from CRUX PPC|Main/About:

Code:
CRUX PPC is a volunteer driven non-profit project based on the releases of CRUX for x86.

Unlike other distributions, the primary goal of CRUX is not to be the most popular (read: biggest number of users) or to put as many features as possible into the system. The idea is rather to build a streamlined distribution, targeted at a specific audience which in turn gets a system without compromises. The result may not be the best distribution for everybody, but as mentioned above, that’s not the goal. If you’re part of the target audience however, you might enjoy running CRUX just as much as we do.

It’s quite hard to do an objective comparison of linux distributions, since it’s often a matter of taste. We therefore believe that you should compare potential candidates yourself, and choose the one you like best. One thing you should remember is that CRUX is targetted at experienced users who don’t mind doing some work themselves, so if you’re an completely new to Linux-based operating systems or want a zero-effort distribution, CRUX is not the optimal choice.
Also, especially new users sometimes confuse a deliberately omitted feature with a lack thereof and suggest it as an “improvement”; you do yourself and us a favour if you try to get yourself adjusted to CRUX for a while before making suggestions to seemingly improve the system; many of the developers have been working with various Linux distributions already and are quite aware of their features.

Are you here interested in developing the CRUX PPC for PS3(We may call it SCPH-1000 compared to PS3 Slim)?I mean I can donate my PS3(XMB 3.15 with Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 pre-installed) to you here.As what I've said in Yellow Dog forum, because CRUX PPC is now the only GNU/Linux distribution that got the POWER.org SOURCE logo and which is also the most high efficiency GNU/Linux distribution for PowerPC 64bit architecture computers, that's why I want CRUX PPC can be run on PS3 to support CellBE processor(as we may call it CRUX CBE of course).Any way,I really want this could happen even there are lots of PS3 SCPH-2000 and SCPH-1000 with XMB 3.21 and above edition installed, because there'er still many fans which are interested in Linux for CBE.Thanks!
Waiting for your reply!

thanks a lot for your interest and your kind hw offer.

We still need donors supporting us with 32/64bit Power Architecture machines. As CRUX PPC Team we are looking for some old/legacy machines too.

CRUX PPC is a volunteer driven non-profit project thus we cannot effort shipment costs or any additional duties. We are located in Italy, European Union.
CRUX PPC is a completely volunteered project, none of the developers ever received a dime for the work made on the project, and even if it’s interesting to support as much hardware as possible, each piece of hardware we receive is just extra work and yet another thing to take care of.

Contributors, ports, documentation, feedback and any sort of help is always welcome; new developers familiar with CRUX, CRUX PPC and Power Architecture hardware are encouraged to join us. You seem to have a great experience with GNU/Linux and Sony PS3 SCPH-1000 thus you can help avoiding to send us your own loved console.

Thanks about that, because I like CRUX PPC and CellBE,I really want the both may get together!
Don't warry about the shipment costs,I think I shall deal with that!
I think I'll donate my PS3 CECHH00MG to Italy,EU after April 1st,I hope you may wait for that day!
Also,I want the exact address of your location,so that I can ship it there.
I think we can communicate with each other by some more easy way, such as e-mail,ect.

I think I can donate my PS3 and something essential for working to you, but you may have known that if you want to connect the PS3 to a display, the display must have an HDMI port. So, a display with an HDMI port is needed and I really can't help you with that.
