i can't seem to get the bbkeys port in contrib to compile on my ibook g3 (dual usb)

i've updated all the deps and also gcc to 3.4.4

the failure seems to be related to:

"collect2: ld returned exit status 1"

anyone have any info on this (working or not..)?

Yes, i have the same problem... there is a problem in linking, but i'm not surewhether it's due to the program, wrong include and libraries or to the linker/compiler... it builds correctly on a crux-ppc 2.0.1, but not on 2.1rc1...
If it's a linker problem it might be serious and must be investigated... but i see many similar errors on debian forums with this package... :? did you find any other problem compiling stuff??
I you really need that i can send you a binary package compiled on a 2.0... it works on 2.1rc too... yep i know it's not a solution to the problem but might be a temporary workaround for you...

thanks for the follow up. so far that's been the only issue i've had at the compile level, but i'll be sure to raise a flag if i see anything else come up. thanks for the offer, but i'm alright, turns out not having bbkeys did me some good and forced me to look into some other window managers, i'm using openbox now and liking it =]

Ok, let us know anything that is not working ;-)
It would be interesting to see if it compiles plainly on Crux X86 or some other arch like Crux Sparc or Crux x86-64...

Talking about window managers i would give Fluxbox a try as it's very similar to blackbox and very lightweight, but has all the transparency effects, good keyboard shortcuts handling, it's very configurable and comfortable to use IMHO... if you're looking for sth spectacular... well Enlightenmen E17 (or even E16) is the way! really cool! 8)
